It's summer, officially. Yes we know it's only just turned May (which means we are almost 1 year old already!!!!) To start the May celebrations meet Kate Upton, the same beach bunny who graced the covers of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit 2011 shoot, and who is apparently in her own words, the baby girl of her very large family. She hails from Florida, is often confused with a California girl, and she possesses two very special talents.

Bodyboarding often gets a bad rep,... let's not beat around the bush, it's the ugly duckling sister to Surfing in the popularity contest. Whether it be because its perceived as easier (no complexities of standing) or whether it's not got the elitism that surfing does because every land going chump can sink like a whale on a bodyboard, but to surf you gotta put in the groundwork. Whatever, as far as we see it, as long as you're out in the water enjoying the waves then that's a step in the right direction. We saw the below video, and thought we should share it with you. Damn it feels good to be a laxer. It feels even better to get out of the uniform and put on a pair of fresh kicks... Honestly if you don't own a pair of high tops yet, then you really are missing out. Not just a simple trainer, these have substance, style and are comfy to boot. No real downside, and unless you are rocking a pair of flops cos it's Summer (which we can fully understand) then their really is no excuse for you not to pur-chase yourself some Fresh Kicks.

I mean think of the alternatives... Boat Shoes (yes sometimes), Trainers (for the gym bro), smart shoes (we ain't at work)... we digress.

With the wonders of the Internet we can source the UrbanDictionary.com definition of "kicks" and this site helpfully tells us that they are in fact shoes. As an alternative we are offered the solution that "kicks" is also referred to as doing something for fun. Apparently that's a shortened version of "kick ass". Does that not tell you something already? After all what is life but a playground for the laxer? Adding "Fresh" to the title is just one further dimension, like you want to rock out with a clean cut look. Keep it smart, keep it tidy, and make sure there's no dirt. After all sporting a pair of scruffy shoes will only say negative things about the owner.

Vans, Adidas, Nike, Puma have all developed their own versions of the High-Top. Origins can be linked to the Basketball Fresh Prince of Bel Air generation...

Ever seen Entourage? Turtle is a collector of Fresh Kicks... and even goes so far as to hunt down limited edition signature editions. Now we're not suggesting going so bespoke or toppy on your first adventure... but certainly try them out. After all, at worst you've got some better ankle protection. That's less chance of pulling a ligament, more Lacrosse, less time on the sidelines. Functional. How do you like them apples?

These slow moving creatures originate from Borneo, the Southern Philippines and South East Asia, and, based on the following clip, love to be tickled. So my boy Magic D gave you all a post about helmet cams in sport. It featured some great footage. Now it's time to top him. 

I've seen lots of lacrosse helmet cam footage, all of which looked great, so I though i'd post a load of it below and let you revel in the awesomness. Enjoy.

Helmet cams are officially awesome. How else can you in an instant recreate that feeling of surfing an epic barrel, pulling a backflip on a dirt bike, or snowboarding down through the freshest powder. Whilst we might never have done any of those, or only some, feel free to enjoy the selected videos below that put you in the hotseat.

TopJLax loves surf chicks, that's a fact. We don't know what it is about them that we love, maybe the bleached beach blonde hair, the shapely curves, tanned skin, or just the way they look standing next to a board. Either way, count us in. Anastasia Ashley is a 23year old Californian who's been a professional surfer and model since she was 17. Definitely ticks the box then.
