Ambient and Chill Out music is, well, chilled. And in all senses 'beautiful' (inverted commas are for the fact that few people take you seriously when you call music beautiful). We're going to be straight up, normally we try to tell you a bit about the artists, but to be completely honest, the guys we're uploading are not massively famous artists or people who have a big 'live' music presence. Also as per the title - we thought we might try and explore a few new genres that people may not have had the free time to do themselves. So we thought we'd do a bit for you. But, as a result, a lot of these guys are new to us so forgive the occasional lack of normal spiel! Check it out after the jump, and save these for a rainy day at work where you're having a bit of a daydream... it suits it well. Listen with headphones or turn your bass up high for maximum effect (and always listen at 720p when possible - it makes a massive difference to sound quality!). Enjoy.
Phaeleh - Falling
There's a lot of this guy going up on the Tube recently (even though he's been around since '06) - and he is quickly being named the 'King of Ambient Dubstep'. A quick peek at his Myspace says it's pronounced 'fella' which is pretty cool. Unsurprsingly, he's from the South West, where it seems loads of upcoming producers have been appearing recently. This track is hot stuff, lots of depth.
Down Jones - Can't Walk This Way (Command Strange Remix)
Command Strange is really good. Normally producing Drum and Bass (of the Liquid variety) here they've gone for a much more chilled out beat with a tiny hint of Dubstep to it. Massively enjoy this.
Phaeleh - Afterglow (feat. Soundmouse)
Thought we'd stick another one up. He's teamed up with another UK artist Soundmouse a few times, and the results are pretty favourable. There's another tune to listen to here which is equally nice.
Stray - Frost
This is just friggin' amazing - had this on repeat all this week. Love love love it.
Crisopa - Nuestro Viejo 747
So ridiculously good. Worth doing a bit more research on this guy if you have the chance.
So a bit of a taster - we're probably going to be digging deeper into this genre so if you want to hear more either do a bit of searching or sound off and we'll do a follow up on this!
Also - we are always interested in new genres and artists to check out here at TopJLax. If you have anyone or anything you think we should give a listen to then let us know.
Either way - let us know what you think about Ambient/Chill Out!
Peace
Bo
