23 year old Glenn Humphreys from Rawtenstall near Blackburn has had a lacrosse stick in his hand since the age of 3 and first played U16 lacrosse at the age of 9. Last season he was the top goalscorer in the Northern Premiership, playing for Rochdale and combining for a total of 67 points that was good enough for the second highest points in the league. On the eve of the new season, TopJLax thought we'd find out what makes a player of this calibre tick.

Right, so we didn't want to keep all you "Sports Fans" waiting too long, so as promised here is part deux of the interview with TopJLax's second most favourite no.17 (Sorry Bagley but "Admin Fox", our one stop shop for all TopJAdmin is numero uno, and for y'all out there who don't know him we've been told he's a hired gun, so if you need any admin done, write to us). Back to subject,...more from Bagley and his inside look at the Worlds.

Without doubt, aside from a few minor hiccups, this months World Champs will go down as an emphatic success for everyone involved. The many fans who attended were treated to top quality lacrosse, at a great venue, and were able to interact with some of the stars of the tournament in a way that is only available to an "amateur" sport. We caught up with "Englands Matt Bagley" to find out what life was like on the other side of the fence, as a player in the Blue Division.

Thoughts from the Worlds
TopJLax has joined thousands of other lacrosse fans from around the World in attending the World Championships this week @ The Armitage Centre. We've been treated to some great lax games, and have enjoyed many a pint hanging out in the village. Here are some of our thoughts to note so far on the tournament:

Day Three of the World games saw some exciting match ups, but perhaps the most important, especially for us patriotic-types at TopJLax, was the England-Japan game. England won in overtime and the some of the photos here really illustrate the emotion of the game. The Japan goalie, clearly in quite some anguish, is a favourite, along with the shot sequence and realisation of a goal from England no. 12 and the clean face-off win from Geoff Snider of Canada. These photos are all courtesy of our friends at laximages.com and we thank them again for their stellar work.

These are a select few photos from the first day of the World Championships in Manchester, courtesy of www.laximages.com. We will try to put up a new set as often as we receive them and hopefully they will tell the story of the World Games for those people, such as our very own Coach Dave, who have not been able to get out to the games themselves.

For the home nations at the 2010 World Championships this Summer represents the biggest opportunity for players who have learnt to play in the UK to play the game they love in front of (fingers crossed) large crowds and their families, whilst competing at the highest level they will have faced. On the Wales roster will be players that many of you have played against week in week out at the Northern or Southern Premiership level. For this competition the level of intensity in the set-up has been increased and as a result the bar has been raised in terms of what they can achieve. TopJLax caught up with Coach Perrin to preview their tournament.

Paul Rabil is a phenomenon, it's undeniable. He has created a lacrosse persona that is so marketable that he has become the centrepiece of two seperate companies' advertising campaigns and has, far beyond expectations, become a star in both lacrosse disciplines, both outdoor and indoor. Rabil, after both a decorated high school and college career, has seen enormous success in the professional game, showing no difficulty in the transition from the regementation of college to the freedom of pro-lax, and was named the 2009 league MVP and MLL Offensive Player of the year.

TopJLax catches up with the man from Blues
For those of you who haven't heard of Matthew Bagley, then this is about to change. When this summers World Championship kicks off in Manchester, one of the players stepping onto the field in an England jersey will be Blues player Matt Bagley, who is just coming off a Southern Senior Flags winning campaign with the boys in blue. Coming to the end of a grueling training routine to get ready for the Worlds, TopJLax caught up with Matt to find out how it was all going...

World Championship build up - Jason Jones
With the World Championships coming up we at TopJLax decided that it was a good idea to interview a few people who are going to be involved, either at an administrative level or in a playing capacity. For the first interview Coach Dave spoke with Wales LSM Jason Jones. Jason started playing lacrosse at Liverpool University and has since moved to Wilmslow LC.

With the World Championships coming up we at TopJLax decided that it might be a good idea to interview a few people who are going to be involved, either at an administrative level or in a playing capacity. For the first interview, of hopefully many, Coach Dave interviewed Wales LSM Jason Jones. Jason started playing lacrosse at Liverpool University and has since moved to Wilmslow LC.
Coach Dave: How do you feel the preparation for the Worlds is going? Are you doing anything specially to ramp up your training to peak in July? What do you consider/hope Wales' chances will be?

Jason Jones: As far as Wales goes we having been training extremely hard over the last year playing games against tough opposition and really refining our skills and teamwork. Coming second in the British Nationals was a big achievement for us and we still have more to give: I think people can expect big things from us this summer. Personally I have been hampered by a broken metatarsal in the run up to the summer, 13 weeks without running has held me back, but im training even harder now to be as fit as possible for July.
