Mike Gvozden is a man with an unpeachable pedigree: a four-year starter at Severna High School and a man who made it quickly into the starting line-up for one of the most historically successful and notable lacrosse university's, Johns Hopkins. In his second year at the university he became a first team selection and helped propel Hopkins to the final of the NCAA tournament. A goalie of great skill, vision and with fantastic leadership qualities, Mike Gvozden has just graduated and moved to California, where he coaches and continues to give back to the lacrosse community. Coach Dave catches up with him.

Firstly, really sorry about that awful pun. It's a lot harder than you think to come up with a sentence including the word Beanz. Moving on from that, meet Carl "Beanz" Maitland, a UK lax demi-god of epic proportions. He's going to be playing in the festival surrounding the Worlds that is so very close to starting. We thought we'd have a word with him to hear about his story, where he's "Beanz" and how he got there... ok, we'll stop it now.

As we all know, it is the kids who are the future bros of our sport. In England, lacrosse is on the up, but the narrowing of the gap between us and those across the pond does rely on a future generation of laxers learning the skills at a young age. Meet Mitch. As the director of the youth league West L.A. Lacrosse that utilises three parks in West Los Angeles, he is dedicated to growing the sport amongst young athletes in California. His model has seen what started out as less than a team’s worth of players grow in participation to a league constituting over 300 players from Elementary to Middle School age group. Flowseph, after first meeting Mitch in California coaching the Cheviot Bruins, caught back up with him to see how he manages to run such a successful program, as it is something that one day soon may be emulated in the Queen’s country…

At this Summer's World Games England U-19's are entering a team in the Festival tournament running alongside the main event. This year that side will feature four new players who all play at the same club team. As previously mentioned in the Interview with Matt Bagley this represents the first international call-up for four Blues Lacrosse players, Ewan Willsmer, Lewis Arnold, James Kidd, and Ollie Barrett. One of the things we love best here in the Gamma Gamma Frat House is the growth of the game, so we thought it'd be prudent to catch up with Ewan Willsmer and Lewis Arnold and find out a little bit more. Read more after the jump.

When most people think of college lacrosse in the US, they think NCAA D1, and minds immediately flick to the likes of Virginia, John Hopkins and Syracuse (to name but a few). So what about the rest? The lesser known Men's Collegiate Lacrosse Association does not grant its athletes varsity status and is recruited very rarely on a scholarship basis. The best lacrosse players in America are therefore snapped up by the big schools and become incorporated into a highly developed and serious programme where they are offered endless support in their school work to ensure they can compete to the highest of their abilities. Consequently the MLL is full of NCAA Division 1 graduates who have benefited from an enduring and highly charged university lacrosse career. Until now that is. TopJLax has caught up with the man who has broken the mould. As two-time MCLA finalist with Chapman University in Orange County CA, MCLA Player of the Year 2009 Connor Martin has flown the club lacrosse nest of which he sat on top of, being the only MCLA player on the roster of College All-Stars who recently beat Team USA, he went a step further securing a draft with the Denver Outlaws for their upcoming season.

What sets Connor apart from most other people (other than his lacrosse talents) is that he doesn't take himself too seriously and in every sense of the word loves life. From sitting down with this man for a chat over a couple of Schwhiskys on a sunny afternoon it is clear that right now he is just riding a wave and seeing where the hell he ends up. Flowseph catches up with Connor Martin -aka Con Bro Chill- to see what makes him tick.

TopJLax have managed to secure an exclusive interview with current Long Island Lizard face-off machine Greg 'The Beast' Gurenlian. 'The Beast', given the nickname for his substantial physical prowess at the X, was selected by the Lizards in the 5th round of the 2010 Supplemental Draft. He has previously played three seasons of Major League Lacrosse, spending time with both the Rochester Rattlers and San Francisco Dragons. At the start of the season he had played in 33 total MLL games, scoring 20 goals and 14 assists, scooping up 147 groundballs and winning 448 faceoffs. Coach Dave catches up with 'The Beast'.

TopJLax catches up with the man from Blues
For those of you who haven't heard of Matthew Bagley, then this is about to change. When this summers World Championship kicks off in Manchester, one of the players stepping onto the field in an England jersey will be Blues player Matt Bagley, who is just coming off a Southern Senior Flags winning campaign with the boys in blue. Coming to the end of a grueling training routine to get ready for the Worlds, TopJLax caught up with Matt to find out how it was all going...

World Championship build up - Jason Jones
With the World Championships coming up we at TopJLax decided that it was a good idea to interview a few people who are going to be involved, either at an administrative level or in a playing capacity. For the first interview Coach Dave spoke with Wales LSM Jason Jones. Jason started playing lacrosse at Liverpool University and has since moved to Wilmslow LC.

With the World Championships coming up we at TopJLax decided that it might be a good idea to interview a few people who are going to be involved, either at an administrative level or in a playing capacity. For the first interview, of hopefully many, Coach Dave interviewed Wales LSM Jason Jones. Jason started playing lacrosse at Liverpool University and has since moved to Wilmslow LC.
Coach Dave: How do you feel the preparation for the Worlds is going? Are you doing anything specially to ramp up your training to peak in July? What do you consider/hope Wales' chances will be?

Jason Jones: As far as Wales goes we having been training extremely hard over the last year playing games against tough opposition and really refining our skills and teamwork. Coming second in the British Nationals was a big achievement for us and we still have more to give: I think people can expect big things from us this summer. Personally I have been hampered by a broken metatarsal in the run up to the summer, 13 weeks without running has held me back, but im training even harder now to be as fit as possible for July.
